On the occasion of the Internationanal Green Week 2012 we invite the Verbund Oldenburger Münsterland and the Agrar- und Ernährungsforum Oldenburger Münsterland to a reception in the Vertretung des Landes Niedersachsen (Representation of the State of Lower Saxony) in Berlin on 23rd January. This year once again the association is representing the region at the Green Week (Niedersachsenhalle 20, Stand 110). On the occasion of this fair all the important opinion leaders in this field meet at the beginning of the year. "As an important location for agricultural as well as for the food industry we want to make use of this opportunity to nurture existing contacts and develop them further“, is how Association President Hans Eveslage described the objectives of the association.

The companies in the Oldenburger Münsterland are a guarantee for reliable and high-quality food. Further information can be obtained from: Rudi Hockmann, +49 (0) 4441 95 65-10, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

In the Oldenburger Münsterland the lack of qualified staff is a big topic of conversation and the requirement for motivated employees is still increasing. In some neighbouring southern European countries youth unemployment in particular is very high. In order to escape from the threatening unemployment, many young people learn German after their vocational training or studies in order to improve their chances on the German employment market. In this context the Goethe Institute in Madrid offers companies from the Oldenburger Münsterland the opportunity to advertise job vacancies on the noticebord. They can be sent by mail to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Hundred percent HAWITA subsidiary technoplant Kunststofftechnik GmbH in Emstek has now been visited by the Verbund Oldenburger Münsterland within the scope of our SME trips. With 50 employees and business premises extending over 8000 square metres, Technoplant produces synthetic products for horticultural use such as plant containers (window boxes, planters), irrigation systems which are economical on raw materials and the Palettino mulit-way-transport-system which has meanwhile become established on the market all over the world. Owner Hans Tabeling and his son Simon Tabeling report that half of the turnover in Emstek is made in springtime. Technoplant contributes 20 percent of the consolidated turnover. The Group’s export quota is approximately 50 percent. It sells to over 50 countries, increasingly also to America, Asia and the former Eastern Bloc States. There are additional plans to develop further markets. The turnover increase in recent years has been in the doubledigit range, with a consistently increasing tendency. Customers include gardeners, in a wholesale as well as retail context, and DIY-stores. Technoplant uses injection moulding exclusively and produces 80 percent for the commercial market gardening sector and 20 percent for the hobby area. According to Hans and Simon Tabeling there is still tremendous growth potential at Technoplant. Currently there are 25 000 pallet spaces in Emstek and production runs 24 hours per day with employees working in three shifts. The HAWITA Group of Vechta (450 employees) has developed into one of the largest and most efficient companies in the turf and compost sector. As a result of ongoing investments, creation of greater capacities and consistent market development, the HAWITA Group has developed into one of Europe’s leading companies in the commercial market gardening sector. Current production volume amounts to 1,500,000 cubic metres. This corresponds to around 17,000 loads per year. The Group operates throughout Europe in various horticultural sectors. There are 450 employees working at eight different locations in Germany and three in the Baltic States. The company cultivates over 4500 hectares of moorland. Hawita owns 1,000 hectares of high moor in Northern Germany. In the Baltic States a long-term lease has been concluded for a further 3500 hectares to be used for peat harvesting. In this way the company’s supply of raw materials is assured for a number of decades to come. And, furthermore, the HAWITA Group can thus guarantee consistently high quality and reliability of deliveries. On commencement of the 2012 / 2013 school year at Adolf-Kolping-Schule in Lohne a special mechatronics training establishment is to be set up with a particular focus on industrial engineering. The two-year full-time course prepares students for the final examination to qualify as state-certified technicians. Moreover the students will also acquire the “Fachhochschulreife“ (certificate of aptitude for specialised short-course higher education). No study fees will be charged for the course. For over ten years now trainees have received instruction in mechatronics at the Adolf-Kolping-Schule. By way of an introduction of this profession the Rural Council of Vechta financed the original purchase of school equipment required for what at that time was a new profession. Students from all over the Oldenburger Münsterland receive training in these special classes. Since summer 2004, in addition to electronics technicians specialising in energy and buildings technology, electronics technicians specialising in automation engineering have also been trained in Lohne. On account of these developments and the importance which the plastics industry has always had in the Rural District of Vechta, the Adolf- Kolping-Schule successfully applied for a model project in 2009, which was to be set up by the State of Lower Saxony with the orientation towards new technologies. The Innovation Centre which was set up in this connection makes it possible to provide practically oriented training in the areas of mechatronics, robotics, automation engineering and plastics technology. Students who completed their first vocational training in the field of mechatronics and electrotechnology will now have the possibility to continue their training further in the new mechatronics training establishment in the Oldenburger Münsterland. In order to get a place in this training establishment, applicants must have successfully concluded an apprenticeship and have worked for at least one year in their profession. The mechatronics training establishment focuses especially on industrial engineering and particularly features special orientation towards the areas of automation engineering, building systems technology and robotics. In addition to the training establishment for plastics technology which has been established at the Adolf-Kolping-Schule for some years now, the mechatronics training establishment offers a second possibility for acquiring the “state-certified technician” vocational qualification in Lohne. This training form prepares students for work in middle technical management. It has been set up in response to the development in the area of vocational training in the region. The setting up of the mechatronics training establishment takes into account the regional requirements in industry and craft. The development, erection and maintenance of technical equipment is to be taken care of by the qualified personnel of the companies which produced it, and will frequently by carried out by local craftsmen’s businesses. Furthermore students will also acquire knowledge of business and work organisation relevant for technicians in the context of project work. Subjects of general application such as German, English and Mathematics complete the lesson plan. Niedersachsenpark records an extremely positive balance for 2011: Nine years after the land development plan acquired legal validity, the intercommunal industry and business park can look back over a very successful development. Approximately 35 businesses have taken space here since 2005. Global players, PSA Peugeot Citroën, adidas and Grimme Landmaschinen, which were set up here in connection with the marketing of the industrial estate from 2008 onwards, contribute just as much - according to Managing Director Uwe Schumacher – as the numerous medium-sized companies to the fact that meanwhile a total of around 1000 jobs have been created in the Niedersachsenpark. This figure is expected to increase to 7000 within the next few years. Last year was the most successful so far for the Niedersachsenpark: “In 2011 we took a further impressive leap forwards with the commencement of building for the adidas and Grimme locations“, according to Schumacher: “We are delighted that now, in addition to PSA Peugeot Citroën, two further global players are going to be carrying out their international business from the Niedersachsenpark. “ The ideal location form a traffic point of view, the flexibility and the absolutely optimum space facilities had played an important role in the decision for the Niedersachsenpark. Thus the Niedersachsenpark has become established as an attractive industrial location in a regional as well as a supra-regional context. A total of 41 hectares have so far been sold in the Niedersachsenpark. Many companies have taken advantage of the option model and ensured an additional 31 hectares of optional space with the result that 72 hectares of the total 300 hectares of building land have now already been allocated in the Niedersachsenpark. A total of 180 million euros have been invested so far. For the most part, local firms have been used for the building work. The success story continues, says Schumacher. More companies have expressed interest in setting up business there. Hendrik Ganseforth and his team have now moved to the ecopark in Emstek where they finally have enough space for creativity and technology. The media producer is in raptures about his new surroundings: “The special attractiveness of the ecopark suits us, our guests as well as our customers are also very impressed. And naturally the location, adjacent to the motorway, makes it just perfect. “ After all, the film-makers are meanwhile active all over Germany as well as abroad. Shortly before the move from Bösel to the industrial estate adjacent to the Hansalinie A1 motorway the film makers used the spacious recording studio of their striking new domicile: Project Manager Christian Wohlfarth produced a film report and interview concerning an innovative bakery counter for a demanding shopfitter from the Emsland and his internet-TV. The concept and implementation are individual on the one hand, on the other hand, however, they bear a very recognisable signature.
