bruesseler-gespraecheThe first Brussels talks of the Verbund Oldenburger Münsterland were carried out successfully on 4th and 5th November 2009. Approx. 100 top representatives of regional companies, towns and communities used the opportunity to exchange opinions and information with decision-makers from the European Parliament, the EU commission as well as representatives of the lines of industry there.

The EU representation of Lower Saxony, the Europe office of the German County Association as well as the regional Europe representative Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Mayer were able to find interesting discussion partners from the EU commission, European Parliament and European associations. In the three discussion groups on the future of EU regional promotion, legislative proposals in the fields of agriculture and food industry as well as fundamental economic questions, the regional top representatives got insider information on the status quo of important initiatives and projects. In the discussions, their arguments and reports pointed out what can happen when bureaucracy meets the operational and local reality.

Upon the occasion of an evening reception of the Verbund in the Lower Saxony EU representation with 120 guests, the agricultural minister Hans-Heinrich Ehlen encouraged the responsible persons in Oldenburger Münsterland to continue their way. This information programme organised by the Verbund was rendered possible by the aid of the Bremer Landesbank, EWE and Öffentliche Versicherungen Oldenburg. The Verbund OM is planning on continuing the Brussels OM talks.
